Rohan Essex
Ass. Prof. Essex is an ophthalmologist at Canberra Hospital, and also a visiting ophthalmologist at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne. He completed his ophthalmology training in Melbourne then went on to complete further sub-specialty training in diseases of the retina and vitreoretinal surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. His clinical practice and interest is surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous, and he has been based in Canberra since 2007 providing services to the community. Rohan is on the executive committee of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retinal Specialists, and on behalf of the Society established the ANZSRS retinal surgery registry which he still leads. The registry won an Excellence in Healthcare Award from the ACT Government in 2015. Additionally, Ass. Prof. Essex is the Chief Medical Information Officer for ACT Health.
